When making the formal application PhD applicants will need to provide a statement (approx. 2,000 words) of your research proposal, including aims and methods, sources and the location of the proposed research. Your proposal should include a list of specific resource needs for your research such as travel budget, fieldwork, laboratory equipment, chemical and IT needs.
University Minimum Requirement：Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised and competitive University with an overall grade of between 85% and 90%. From some institutions a Master's Degree will be required.
If the academic requirement of the course is a first: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised and competitive University with an overall grade of between 90% and 95%. From some institutions a Master's Degree will be required.
Some faculties or departments may ask you to provide a CV (Curriculum Vitae, or resumé). This is in addition to the application form, and must not be sent instead of it.Please check the information for your course in the Course Directory carefully to see if this is required.Do not send a CV unless your course specifically asks for it; the department will not use it when assessing your application unless it is required.
You have submitted your application via the Applicant Portal and paid the £50 application fee
All applicants will need to provide the details of two referees who can provide academic references written in English.
Uncertified copies or provisional versions of transcripts should be uploaded to your self-service account. Originals or certified copies should be sent to the Graduate Admissions Office(http://www.graduate.study.cam.ac.uk/other-ways-contact-us).Your official transcript may be sent to us electronically only if your institution has, or can use, a recognised secure electronic transcript system (eg Digitary or HEAR/GradIntel). You will need to contact your institution to enquire whether they offer this facility. These systems work by generating a web address for your electronic transcript on a trusted website, or a secure access token, which either you or your institution can notify us of, by sending a message via the system to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please arrange for this to be done after you have submitted your application, so that your electronic transcript can be associated with your other documents.
